Albers Inspired Fireplace

I saw this in Domino this month and had to share it. To stylist Lili Diallo, sharp edges and geometric planes feel like the essence of the 21st century. Inspired by the

artist Josef Albers, this facade brought textured appeal to a plain brick fireplace with his 3-D design in the 1950s. Architectural plans to re-create it are now sold through albersfoundation.org

Arts And Architecture Book Set

It's not an inexpensive gift but if you have a modernist in your life it may be the best gift they every receive. This collection comes with ten boxes, each containing a complete year's worth of Arts & Architecture magazines from 1945-1954. That's 6,076 pages in 118 issues reproduced in their entirety beginning with Entenza's January 1945 announcement of the Case Study House program. Also included is a supplement booklet with an original essay by former A&A publisher David Travers, translated from the English into German, French, and Spanish; all the covers and contents; and a selected index to articles. New Chairs

In keeping with the chair theme for today I wanted to share this book on innovative new chair designs. I have always loved chair design and felt it is one of the signature pieces of furniture that has greatly benefited from modern design. It's sort of a litmus test of where modern design is at any period.
